George fell onto the couch immediately. Waving his wand, the door slammed shut and locked again. He put his head in his hands and groaned, shaking as if he were in physical pain over losing the shop the way they had. Well, he was, in a way. "We couldn't have even lost to someone better....We were brought down by ourselves. How embarrassing," he said, shaking his head.

"Youve not lost it until you give up on it," Adrienne said, sternly. She wasnt going to let George cause himself so much pain. "Come here," she pulled him up, and lead him into the kitchen. She had given him long enough to be all macho about it, but now his cuts had to be taken care of... and lets face it, it took a girl to get anything like that right. "Hold still," she said, as she pulled his shirt over his head; it was cut in places from the glass.
She was glad to see that there were only a few cuts, and mostly scratches, though they would need to be healed. She grabbed a bowl, a cloth, and her wand, before filling the bowl with essence of murtlap with her wand, and dipping the cloth in it. She dabbed gently at each of his cuts, cleaning it thoughroly, but as gently and tenderly as she could. "Hold still George, please." she said, She knew he didnt like her doing this, and it would sting a little. When the first cut was clean, she tapped it with her wand and it healed. She looked up at him, smiling, before kissing the place where his cut had been. "One down," she said, hoping to cheer him up slightly, before moving onto the next one. She was going to leave his head for last... she didnt even want to see the damage that must have been done to it, if he was considering giving up the shop.

George sat still as Adrienne worked on him, though it was with gritted teeth and annoyance. He winced slightly when the Essence of Murtlap first reached his cuts, but he got over the sting quickly. He let her work as she wished, not looking at her but staring at the wall blankly, his head throbbing from more than just the injury and his grinding teeth.

Adrienne sighed as she saw Georges face, "Comon baby, you know I have to... its not so bad is it?" she didnt mean the sting, she meant whatever it was that George hated so much about her taking care of him like this. She cleaned each cut as quickly as she could, but she wasnt about to rush it and do a bad job. She knew George was upset about the shop, and she wanted to help him, she just didnt know how.

George grunted in response to her question, but otherwise made no inclination that he'd heard her. He looked down as she was nearly finished with his chest and, as soon as she was done, he pulled his torn shirt back on. Waving his wand, George's shirt was made whole again, and he made to move out from under Adrienne's care.

"George," Adrienne said, grabbing his arm and holding onto him. "Your head... " she kept her eyes down, so he wouldnt see the hurt in them. She hadnt ruined his shop. So why didnt he even want her touching him. She picked up the cloth again, and, after forcing George into a seat (and trying not to feel hurt that she had to do so in the first place) she started to clean away the blood, even more gently then before, as this was where he was most badly hurt.

George let himself be cleaned again, though it was out of love for Adrienne that he allowed it to happen. If he had it his way, he would be in his room brooding my himself, trying to convince himself that he hadn't just put the Weasley Twins out of business. In face, he had every intention of doing so after Adrienne finished fussing over him. He didn't see what the big deal was, it was just a few scrapes and a little blood. No big deal at all.

When Adrienne was done, she put the now blood soaked cloth back in the bowl, and looked at George. She put her hand on his cheek comfortingly, slightly sad at what she saw in his eyes. She knew he just wanted rid of her at the moment, and that if he had it his way, she wouldnt have even bothered cleaning him up. Her hand dropped, and she picked up the bowl and cloth, walking around George to the sink, where she started to clean the bowl, and rinse the blood out of the cloth the muggle way. She would leave him be, and he could do what he wanted, but she was sad that no matter what she did, he didnt want her help, or her opinion.

George sighed as he realized what he was doing to Adrienne, but he didn't know how to handle the situation any more than she did. "Thanks," he said quietly, when she'd finished clearing him up and had rinsed out the bowl. He watched her back for a moment, then went into the sitting room, where he plopped down on the couch. Reaching over to the side table, George switched on an old radio, which immediately began to blast news about Voldemort's overtaking of the Wizarding World, though it was done with such enthusiasm that the news controls were sure to be run by Death Eaters now.

Adrienne tensed slightly as the news report started, but she continued scrubbing the cloth, now determined to get out every stain. She tried not to listen, but the sound echoed around the silent appartment, and she couldnt help but hear. "Ministry police arrested a number of protestors today, when they were forced to stop a mass protest outside the Ministry of Magic, trying to urge the Minister to do more about the Dark Lords return to power..." 'The damn Minister should be taking action, not talking about it...' Adrienne thought, but she held her tongue. "...and a statement has been realeased by Deatheater groups situated in London that a magical bomb, designed to cause maximum distruction at a given time, is set to go off sometime this week...." Adrienne had no doubt that that had been put in there on purpose. It probobly was the statement. 'The order should be down there trying to stop it,' she thought 'or the Ministry, or someone...' but she doubted very much that anything was being done to save the induviduals... more the majority... "Known Deatheater, Donavan Carey-" over by the sink, Adrienne froze "is said to be behind these actions. Carey has eveaded arrest for over 16 years, has been behind multipal killings.." Adrienne stopped listening, her mind was racing, her thoughts seeming louder then usual. Anger was boiling up inside her as she thought of what he had done, what her father had done, and how she couldnt even do anything to set it straight. She couldnt do anything to cancel out what he had done. To make up for it.
She realised she hadnt done anything with the cloth in over 5 minutes, and wrung it out, setting it on the counter to dry. She wouldnt say anything, because she knew the reaction she would get.

George listened closely to the news bulletin, his fists clenched so tight that his knuckles were turning white. He had to talk to his father, to see what action the Order was taking, and to try and help them on their way. Unfortunately, there was going to be no meeting with the Order anytime soon, as his mother was anti-meeting at the moment, especially in her living room. She rather thought that, since the kids are all safe in Hogwarts, they shouldn't try and stir up trouble by having secret anti-Voldemort meetings too quickly.
Just as George thought it was over, the newscaster had more to say. "We have been informed that recent security has tightened where an increase of magic is being detected. This includes, but is not limited to, the streets of Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley, local bars and shops, and Hogwarts: School of Witchcraft and Wizadry. Dementors are now swarming the gates of said locations 24 hours a day, determined to keep.....". But the announcement faded, at least to George's ears. He had looked at Adrienne when they mentioned Hogwarts and hadn't yet looked away. If security had tightened that much already, how was she ever going to get out of the castle before? "You should go," he said, though it wasn't what he wanted. George would rather keep Adrienne safe and out of trouble though, as much as he could, even if he was sure it would find her eventually.

Adrienne turned around to George, her mouth open, ready to remind him that it was already after dark, and the Dementors were everywhere. That the security would be on the gates now, even if the 24 hour survalence hadnt been put in place. And that she damn well didnt want to go back to that school just to sit around and do nothing... agian. But George had made it quite clear that he didnt want her opinions, so her mouth shut as readily as it had opened. It was easy to say that she would never mess up again, but doing it was another thing. Adrienne wasnt used to censoring herself, but for, George, she would. She just nodded, thinking that if he wanted her to go, she probobly had better go. It was his appartment, after all. She didnt want him to pull that card and start an argument.

George got up from the couch slowly, finding Adrienne oddly quiet. Even though he had told her that he didn't want her to want to fight, he felt that she was taking it to the extreme, in not saying anything at all about it. But if this is how she wanted to handle it, if this was how she was going to take it, then he was going to let her. "Be careful," he said, as he walked to the edge of the couch, which was positioned by the door, and leaned against the arm rest. "I don't know when we'll be able to see each other again, but...." George trailed off, deciding not to give her advice, lest he somehow make her even more mute without even trying to.

Adrienne looked at George, unable to hide the sadness in her eyes. It felt to her like their relationship was falling apart, the grounds on which they had made it on crumbleing beneath them. She couldnt tell him how she felt, and it was eating at her from the inside out, but if she did she was so sure she would loose hold on him even more. Now they couldnt even see eachother... what was left? Where was the relatiohship? Adrienne didnt know what to do anymore. George didnt want her to speak her mind, but did he realise what that meant? It meant her thoughts were becoming more and more introverted. It meant she wasnt the fiesty, 'tell it like it is' girl she had been before. It meant her spark was dying out, and she wasnt being herself. It meant that she was loosing her spirit and determination and passion and everything she had fought to keep. She was beginning to feel numb, unreal.
But she was eggagerating. It wasnt that bad. George wanted her to stay in school, to keep her head down, to do her work, to stay out of any fights. But if thats the girl he wanted, then Adrienne couldnt help but think that he didnt want her.
"Ok..." she said, not knowing where to go from there, or what else to say. "Ill apperate back to the castle." Her voice didnt shake, and was stronger then she felt. She could hold onto that. Thats one thing I cant loose she thought to herself, being strong, keeping calm, not showing any weakness, not comlaining... She looked at George, and forced what she hoped was a warm smile, though she was so practiced in it by now it was second nature. She headed for the door, deciding to apperate as soon as she was on the street.

George remained silent, not sure what to say as he too had begun to feel that their relationship was evaporating. He didn't know how to explain it, but he didn't want her to have to hold on to something that wasn't real, or to him if she could have something more...someone more. He didn't want her to feel like they were finished, but he didn't know how to stop it from feeling that way.
He sighed and watched as Adrienne left, grateful that she had managed a smile. He smiled back and kissed her softly, before seeing her down the stairs. When he was sure that she was far enough down the stairs, so that she wouldn't hear him, George leaned his forehead against the door and took a shaky breath. "I told you I didn't want to hinder you," he whispered, to no one now. Closing his eyes tightly, trying to blink away the imagination of a life without Adrienne, he locked the door then went to his room, where he sat up at his writing desk, awaiting the return of his brother.
