Adrienne nodded, "Im fine," she said, just a few scratches." she bit her lip as she saw the blood on Georges head. "George, your hurt," she said, putting her hand on his arm gently, "Here... let me clean it up at least.." she started to stand, pulling George with her. She knew he would be devastated about the shop, but they could talk about that later.

"Huh? Oh. Yeah. Right," George said, still trying to keep his mind off the shop. He let Adrienne pull him up but he didn't move, just stood there in the middle of the now-empty stock room. He just stared at the wall, his eyes wide and void. "I need...." George said slowly, though that was all he got out. He took a deep swallow and dropped Adrienne's hand, then marched out the back, through the shop, and then outside into the cooling air of the streets of Diagon Alley.

Adrienne sighed, and then followed George out the back door. "Baby, its alright..." she said, "dont worry about the shop, you can start again... it will be just as good, if not better then before. I promise. But please let me heal you... just come upstairs. Ill have to clean it before I can do anything," Adrienne excelled at healing charms, which was lucky because her potions skills left a lot to be desired. She took Georges hand again gently.

"No. It's not the same, and it won't be," George said, shaking his head. He didn't look at Adrienne but stared ahead, at the wall of the shop across from them. "This is where it starts, isn't it?" he said quietly, his eyes still filled with that glossed-over look. George took a deep breath and finally turned to face Adrienne, leaving his hand in hers.
"Losing the things we love, I mean. This is where the end begins. Making sacrifices...giving things up for the greater good...letting go," he said. "Adrienne...the shop won't be better, and it won't even be the same. I'm not doing it again, just so it can be taken away from me," he said. George was afraid of a lot of things, but he'd never really realized how deep his fears actually went until now.

"What?" Adrienne said, staring at George. Whatever answer she had expected, that wasnt it. "George, dont say that. You've wanted to open a joke shop for as long as Ive known you. I cant let you just give it up. This was just an accident, its not an omen of things to come." she kenw that George would never be fully happy if he just let his dream die. "What are you going to do, hmm? Get a normal job? You would hate that."

"No. I don't need a job, not really. We've made enough with the shop we had, and we've saved more than enough; Fred and I could live comfortably for nearly the rest of our lives if we wanted to," he said quietly, now turning away from Adrienne. It wasn't that he wanted to give up the shop, it was just that he didn't know how to go about rebuilding, making it better than it was, now that it was so certain their lives were going to be cut short soon.

"George..." Adrienne said, turning him back to face her, "I know you wont be happy unless your doing what you love... please dont give up on it now, you've been trhough so much to get here." The secret mail order service, run from their bedroom- testing products on themselves in secret at Hogwarts- arguments with their mom over what was a 'fit career'. And he did it because he loved jokes and making people laugh.

"Yeah, I know that but...it just seems to be getting harder and harder now. I'm not so sure how much longer I can do this," George said. He stepped away from Adrienne and sat on the cobblestoned ground, his head in his hands. Something he'd never expected to happen had occured and George didn't know how to face it. His spirit was broken, and he wasn't sure how to get it back.

Adrienne sat down next to George, her arm moving around his waist. "Baby.... Im sorry... just, come upstairs, ok? Please." she wanted to get him healed, then they could talk about this. She knew how he felt, his spirit broken, his fire extinguished, because that was how she felt at the moment... she had to hold back the quick comments and feisty spark that came so naturally to her, because the idea of her being in the order or wanting to fight upset George. She didnt blame him, she didnt even think she had that in her, it was just the way it was.

"I just...want to be outside for a while, okay?" he said, his face still buried in his hands. Though he felt Adrienne's arm around him, George didn't move it, nor did he react to it in any other way, though it did make him feel a little better. "Will you just...sit with me for a bit?" he asked, pulling his face up and glancing at her.

Adrienne bit her lip as she looked at Georges head; he was still bleeding, and she wanted to get him checked out to make sure he wasnt hurt anywhere else. But she knew he wouldnt listen to reason. "Of course I will," she said, pulling him to her, "where else would I be?" she wasnt about to leave George now.

George showed his gratitude by smiling at Adrienne, and he kissed her forehead lightly. He had completely forgotten about his head, as it didn't even bother him. He couldn't feel anything anyway. He put his arm around her and just sat there holding her, letting the light fade around them as night approached.

Adrienne sat with George for quite a while, not wanting to move until he was ready, but at the same time anxious to get him taken care of. As night started to descend, the darkness came with is, as did the cool night air. Soon the sun was only just visable, and all around them was fading into darkness. "George," Adrienne said, quietly, speaking for the first time in a while. "I really think we should go in now... I need to take care of your head. Im worried about you," it wasnt just Georges head that she was worried about though; the Dementors would be out soon.

George was still in another world as Adrienne spoke to him, but her voice brought him back to firm ground and he shook his head, catching onto what she'd said. "Yeah, okay. Sure," he said casually, though his tone of voice was flat. He began to think about the Dementors too, and the last thing George wanted was for Adrienne to be in danger. "Let's take the back stairs, though," he suggested, getting up so that they didn't have to walk through the empty store again.

Adrienne nodded, thinking that was for the best. She stood up, taking Georges hand and pulling hip up with her. "Come on," she sad, leading him up the stairs. She wished she coudl make al of this better for George but there was really nothing she could do. They reched the appartment, and Adrienne opened the door, stepping insde.
